Natural Sunscreen

The sun and I have a “love/hate” relationship.  I recognize that spending too much time basking in its glory can be detrimental to my health. Vegan Wednesday!

Teese Vegan Cheese





Teese Vegan Cheese is now available at Food For Thought! We listened to several requests for this vegan cheese and knew we had to order it. It has been getting a great response and we're proud to be the only store in Wichita that carries this popular cheese substitute!

We are also proud to carry another Chicago Soy Dairy product-Dandie's Vegan Marshmallows. They have the great taste of marshmallows without the gelatin!

Gluten Free Tuesday!

Who said you need gluten to have taste?

With all of the breads available without gluten, there are few that contain "taste" as well. Because let's face it, some of those breads could pass for a dish sponge with your eyes closed. But one product that I find that a lot of people overlook is the Grainless Baker Baguettes. They come two to a package in the frozen food section on Aisle 6. They are delicious, crispy and full of ....you guessed it, flavor! Try them with sub sandwiches, made into garlic bread or just eaten by themselves. I think you'll be greatly impressed!

Gluten-Free Tuesday!

Gluten Free Honey-Maple Granola

Ingredients:
2-1/2 c. Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Rolled Oats

1/2 cup Coconut Flakes

1 cup Almonds (Sliced)

1/4 tsp Sea Salt
2 Tbsp. Honey
2 Tbsp. Maple Syrup
3 Tbsp. Vegetable Oil
1/2 cup Raisins (Unsulfured)
2 Tbsp. Flaxseed Meal
1/2 cup Dates, chopped
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300°F.
In a medium sized bowl mix together oats, coconut, almonds and salt. In a separate bowl mix honey, syrup and oil (oil will stay mostly separated, that’s okay). Combine the honey mixture with the oat mixture and stir until evenly coated. Pour the mixture onto a greased baking sheet with sides and spread to cover evenly. Bake for 30 minutes, stir, bake another 5-10 minutes. In a small bowl mix the raisins, dates and flaxseed meal. Stir the raisin mixture into cooked granola.
Store in an airtight container.

Boca Mexican Casserole

Ingredients:

1 (13oz) bag tortilla chips, divided

1 package Boca Ground Crumbles

1 can Muir Glen Fire-Roasted Diced Tomato

1 package shredded Organic Valley Mexican Cheese Blend

Directions:
Partially crush 1/2 bag of chips and place in bottom of a buttered 9x13 inch baking dish.   Heat Ground Crumbles.  Add tomatoes and the cheese and mix well.  Sprinkle finely crush chips over top of casserole.  Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
